To use Windows 2019 Remote Server you need two different types of licenses. On the one hand, these are the actual licenses for the Windows server and, on the other hand, so-called Client Access Licenses, or CALs for short. Microsoft, on the other hand, offers CALs in two variants. On the one hand, per-user licenses allow only one user to access a personal remote desktop environment from any number of computers. Device-bound CALs, on the other hand, allow access by multiple users from a single client device. For example, Microsoft Windows Server Remote Desktop Services 2019 User CALs are an attractive option for offices where employees frequently rotate jobs.
