Windows Server 2025 Standard
The standard edition already contains 16 cores.Experience the latest server technology using the Microsoft Windows Server 2025 Standard. This Microsoft version provides a stable, secure and high-performance platform that was specifically designed for the IT requirements of modern companies. Windows Server 2025 Standard is a reliable basis for business-critical data and applications for small to medium-sized companies.
Active Directory security has been strengthened. Password security is increased, encryption algorithms (Kerberos with AES, SHA256 and SHA384) or specified as standard (LDAP) are strengthened and security gaps are closed.
Hotpatching is a significant advancement for Windows Server 2025. This makes it possible to apply patches in Azure Arc while it is running.
PPTP and L2TP protocols are not accepted by default in new Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) setups. It is still possible to enable the old protocols manually. No modifications are required for VPN connections based on SSTP and IKEv2.
Server Message Block (SMB) also offers support for QUIC in the on-prem version of Windows Server 2020. SMB over QUIC was previously only intended for Windows Server Azure Edition. The performance of QUIC, a modern Internet protocol, is better than that of TCP for many applications.
